The turn of events and circulation of cocoa has positively affected the present society on account of it's dynamic job in day by day health.Cocoa was last gone back to the Mayan and Aztec societies in 1502. On Columbus' last journey he brought a couple of cocoa beans from the new world to Spain yet they were presented as simply seeds thus they were overlooked. Until 1519 when the Spanish voyager Hernando Cortez arrived during his undertaking to Mexico he happened upon the individuals known as the Aztecs. While there he ate with a large number of the rich and influential individuals of this general public. He revealed that these individuals drink astounding measures of something they called choclatl (Chocolate! 12). Chocolatl a drink produced using corn feast, stew peppers, vanilla, and kakahutal or cocoa as it's known today. Cortez figured the if an Aztec ruler preferred chocolatl, a Spanish lord would as well. So he carried a few beans to Europe as one of the remarkable fortunes from America. The Spanish sovereignty called their new beverage chocolate. They improved it with sugar or nectar and seasoned it with cinnamon. Be that as it may, since the Spanish couldn't get enough beans for themselves, they would not like to impart them to any other person. They stayed discreet so well that, for a long time, not many individuals in Europe thought about chocolate. At the point when the mystery at last spilled out, just rich individuals could bear the cost of the extravagance. Be that as it may, soon an ever increasing number of beans were being developed, and better methods of transforming them into chocolate were found. Chocolate turned out to be mainstream to the point that cocoa bars, houses where you can go eat and drink all the chocolate you wished, popped ... ...voided on account of cocoa items. The turn of events and circulation of cocoa has positively affected the present society in light of it's dynamic job in day by day wellbeing. This has been demonstrated not just through the historical backdrop of dissemination behind cocoa, yet in addition it's physical and mental impacts on the human body. It has become a piece of our strict society and will consistently remain as a cherished memory to us. Works Consulted"Chocolate." New Standard Encyclopedia. 1995 ed."Chocolate!" Learning Theory of Career Counseling Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words

Learning Theory of Career Counseling - Essay Example Actually, vocation directing is a predominantly verbal procedure between a lifelong instructor and counselee which center around the counselees objectives and yearnings throughout everyday life (Bandura, A. (1989). The procedure of vocation directing for the most part includes four components to be specific (1) to enable the individual to achieve more prominent mindfulness in the regions of qualities, capacities, character style and work premium, (2) to associate the individual to assets that can assist them with being progressively arranged to handle particular sorts of employments and occupation (3) control the individual towards a dynamic procedure to pick a vocation way that suits their qualities, premium, capacities and character style and (4) to enable the individual to turn into a functioning director of their profession way and become long lasting students in proficient improvement through their life (Herr and Cramer, 1996). There are various guiding speculations that are utilized via profession instructors today. One of the first and maybe less complex approaches to investigate profession openings and learn critical thinking conduct is through Krumboltzs learning hypothesis pf vocation guiding (Krumboltz 1979). The social learning hypothesis of vocation guiding recommends that the interchange of elements, for example, the hereditary enrichments and exceptional capacities of the individual, the natural conditions and occasions, the learning experience of the individual and the size of the job needing to be done has noteworthy effect on the profession decisions of an individual (Krumboltz, 1979; 1994). The view of the individual of their capacities can shape their decision of a profession and may contribute enormously in building up their vocation convictions. Now and again, profession convictions become so profoundly imbued in the way of life of a network that it presently controls the vocation decision of the individual who has a place with such a network (Krumboltz, 1994). A genuine case of vocation conviction can be found in the manner relatives choose to become specialists in light of the fact that their progenitors

Jair Bolsonaro and Donald Trump - Free Essay Example

With nominating so many people who are anti-LGBTQ, he cant possibly expect no one to notice that his promise of protecting the community isnt being kept (although most didnt expect much from this promise to begin with). In some ways, Bolsonaro seems to be more truthful about his views on gay people than Trump is. Nevertheless, both of their views on the LGBTQ community seem to be lacking and problematic. Both Bolsonaros toning down of his hate-speech towards gay people and Trumps supposed support for gay people seem to have been tactics to possibly get more votes during their presidential campaign. Neither seem to really truly advocate for the LGBTQ community, which has been a big issue for the past decade. With this shift to the right for both Brazil and the US, it just may endanger LGBTQ rights all the more, which is why it is important for people to gather supportive groups all the more. Potential Increase of Gun Access In some areas of the world, gun control isnt even a topic to worry about, as guns arent even used in those countries. However, both the US and Brazil have had debates about this very topic. The US, with its Second Amendment, gives citizens the right to bear arms, but with recent school shootings and massacres Trump proposed having more thorough background checks and raising the age limit to buy such weapons, which doesnt sound all too crazy in comparison to much of the things he had said during his presidential campaign. While on hind sight Trump seems to be somewhat reasonable about gun control, he added a completely absurd proposal: to arm teachers. In his logic, arming teachers would prevent such shootings, since it would make potential attackers more hesitant and give schools a chance to protect and defend themselves. But to this, many have argued that adding more guns into the equation wouldnt in fact make schools safer. In such a scenario, the fact that a gun would even be in a classroom is dangerous and sounds like a recipe for disaster. By wanting to arm teachers, he would be wanting to mass ively arm many more Americans in order to protect themselves. Bolsonaro slightly differs that he wants to have more lax gun-control laws in general, but this has the similar idea of providing citizens with a way to protect themselves. However, this is much more controversial in the context of Brazil, at least in some peoples opinions, as Brazil has had a record number of homicides last year, amounting to 63,880 people (Sandy). By loosening gun-control laws, this could lead to more crossfire in the long run. Bolsonaro had even said that a good criminal is a dead criminal (Jair Bolsonaro Wins Brazils Presidency). His support for loosening gun-control laws isnt only applicable for normal citizens. Bolsonaro also wanted to give even more power [to the police] to kill suspects in self-defense, although the police were the cause of 5,144 deaths last year; most who happened to be killed were young, black males (Sandy). But if the police already kill that many people, they most likely dont even need more power; this just seems like an excuse for more police impunity and brutality. In general, no one really should be able to take away another humans life so easily to begin with; it is just morally wrong, as murder takes ones life against ones will, denying the individual of their freedom and natural rights. Admiration of the Military Trump again only seems to be all talk about another subject, this time being his admiration for the military. Although he does seem to spend a lot of the budget into the military, Trump doesnt seem to really respect the military all too much, as there have been a few instances when he should have visited certain places as the President of the United States but did not. Some of those places included a World War I cemetery in France for American soldiers, Arlington National Cemetery on Veterans Day, and war zones in Afghanistan and Iraq. Not only that, but Trump practically isnt fulfilling his duties as commander in chief. It was said that he seemed to have no clue about the military yet barely asked any questions; the PowerPoint presentation that top military commanders showed Trump only consisted of 3 slides, as opposed to its original 18 slides (Cooper, et al.). Trump clearly doesnt seem to have any actual interest in the military as he feigns to have, nor did he have any prior experience serving in the military. Bolsonaro, on the contrary, truly reveres the military and has had personal experience in the military, as he had been part of the Brazilian military until he eventually reached the rank of Captain before he retired. In fact, some feel that Bolsonaro is a little too supportive about the military, as it has been known that he supported the military regime/dictatorship that Brazil had been under from the 1960s to the mid-1980. In 2015, Bolsonaro looked back on those days with nostalgia and called it gloriou s (Kirby). During Bolsonaros run for president, his running mate was a retired military general. Bolsonaros support of Brazils past military dictatorship leaves some especially wary and uncomfortable, for the fear of having a leader with a strong militaristic view. With Brazils corruption and crime rate at an all time high, it is understandable that some may agree with such a view. However, Bolsonaro hadnt really emphasized his reverence of Brazils military regime during his campaign, so it hasnt affected many peoples opinions all too much. Disregard for Climate Change The Trump administration has been known to consist of a good amount of climate deniers; similarly, Bolsonaro had appointed Ernesto Arajo, a climate change denier, as the Foreign Minister, who thinks that climate change was all a Marxist plot. When comparing and contrasting Trumps and Bolsonaros individual views on climate change, Bolsonaro isnt shown to be as fervent of a climate change denier as Trump is. However, both the Brazilian President-elect and the US President declared they would pull each of their countries out of the Paris climate accords, which is problematic as it had already been a struggle to fight against climate change. Bolsonaros decision to pull Brazil out the the Paris climate accords would arguably be even more catastrophic, as Brazil currently has most of the worlds forests which in turn provides the world with oxygen. Bolsonaro, however, has been strongly against the so-called excessive policing of Brazils rainforests; he wanted to exploit these areas for agricultural and commercial use. This potentially help Brazil economically by creating more jobs and resources to use but only at the cost of a detrimental environmental decision. Not only would this harm Brazils environment and the rest of the world, but it would also endanger indigenous rights, considering that most of the indigenous people of Brazil live in the Amazon. Bolsonaro potentially has the futures of Brazil and indigenous people of the Amazon and global environment at his hands (Tharoor). Popularity Despite Controversy Anyone can easily see how Bolsonaro and Trump can be so controversial and potentially disagreeable, especially with their discriminatory views on women and certain minorities (including race and sexuality), disregard for climate change, and provocative approaches towards certain topics. Both Bolsonaro and Trump also do not seem to have much of a filter as most people do, as they dont seem to care that they are being risky by being strongly controversial. However, Bolsonaro and Trump both managed to be elected by their country, despite all of the controversy that surround them and despite that political analysts originally thought they did not have much of a chance to win their respective elections (Jair Bolsonaro Wins Brazils Presidency). One aspect about why they seem to be elected by their country is the fact that they overflowed with confidence and boldness. Although this boldness wasnt always quite called for, it seemed to have done the job of givin g a facade of leadership, as many people tend to attribute confidence or boldness to leadership. In addition to that, both of their platforms heavily involved use of social media in their anti-corruption campaigns. Trump was mostly reliant on Twitter, while Bolsonaro used a variety of social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and WhatsApp. They both gave newsfeed to the currently discontent masses on what seemed to be their aspiring, new vision of a better country, by radically breaking free from the norm; they seemed to give hope to the mass public that wanted change from the reality of the now. The public attributed this new vision given by Bolsonaro or Trump as a means for change. Factors for Bolsonaros Successful Campaign However, some may still ask how Bolsonaro won, despite having said even more controversial statements than Trump, especially when looking back towards his statement that Rosrio wouldnt even deserve to be raped, because she was too ugly and his hate-speech towards homosexuality, along with his underlying militaristic tones. In this case, it is important to consider what had been going on in Brazil at the time. During the time Bolsonaro was campaigning to be elected president, many government officials and former presidents had been caught being involved with various scandals, bribes, and other forms of corruption, resulting in the impeachment of two presidents approximately within only 25 years. One of the well known scandals was the Operation Car Wash scandal. Because of all of these events, nearly 77 percent of Brazilian citizens consider the country to be corrupt, and barely 14 percent believing that the electoral system isnt rigged (Far-R ight Candidate Jair Bolsonaro). During these years, former President Luiz Incio Lula da Silva had been the only highly praised president in a while, with an 87 percent approval rate (Jair Bolsonaro Wins Brazils Presidency). However, he had also been caught within recent scandals. Because of all of these recent government corruption scandals, Bolsonaros radical, new vision and anti-corruption campaign worked well with what the masses wanted. In addition to all of the government corruption, Brazils crime rates had been rising tremendously. Both Brazils government corruption and rising crime rates resulted in such an angry and distrustful public. Other than the events going on and current state of Brazil, a personal event that happened to Bolsonaro probably also helped with his votes. During his presidential campaign, Bolsonaro had been badly stabbed at a rally, which actually allowed him to gain more attention from the public and gave him sort of a martyr status (Kirby). It most likely lowered the chance of any political opponent verbally attacking him for his political views, after he had just gone through the knife assault and had been hospitalized. As a result of the right circumstances, with Brazils current state and what he seemed to provide, Bolsonaro seemed to many to be the best of the available candidates. Fake News Fake news. Everyone has heard Donald Trump claim that a low of reporters and journalists presented the public with fake news. This idea of fake news is the idea that the media outlets for public ne ws are biased towards certain ideas, while they defame, slander, and libel the opposition. News had long been a way for the public to be informed and an informal way of checks and balances with the people. However, this rhetoric recently has been reversed by people like Trump and Bolsonaro, stating that the media skews representations of themselves and that it is actually against the public and not for the public. Leaders like Trump and Bolsonaro claim that these news outlets are the ones who are misinforming us, the public, while in fact, they may actually be the ones deceiving the public. Of course, we should never be gullible and completely put all of our trust into one source, including and especially the ones telling us about fake news (such as Trump and Bolsonaro) as it might be very much likely that they are doing the very same thing they are warning against in front of our noses. In general, we should be wary of any information we are consuming and try to fact check when we can. Concerns It is definitely alarming to see populist leaders, such as Bolsonaro and Trump (especially those who are far-right), as it means that they can possibly stir the emotions of the masses. This is why it is even more important to make sure not to fall for false statements or lies to the best of our ability. While such populist leaders can be dangerous, we can make an effort to use the checks and balances w e have in democratic government, as it should be part of our duty as a citizen of a democracy.

Criminal Jurisdiction in Indian Country Tribal nations enjoy a unique legal position in the United States attributable to their sovereign status with built in powers of self-government. They also enjoy a special relationship with the federal government. The process is referred to as project management. Project success and Project failure are commonly used concepts in Project management. A project usually goes through different stages and these stages decide whether the project will be failure or success. The project lifecycle consists of three stages: Initiation, Execution and Closing, as discussed in the table below. Project Phase Deliverables Initiation Phase Project Definition signed-off Execution Phase Multiple deliverables based on Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) Closing Phase Post-Project Review (= plan for benefits) Table 1: Project Lifecycle Source: Chatfield, 2010 For a project manager, juggling between different roles and also keeping eye on right ball is the key to deliver successful projects. Experts believe that determining potential reasons for failure of a project is crucial but without any definition of success, there can be no differentiation between success and failure. Defining success might seem easy but the views expressed by different people vary about success. By definition, success refers to achieving all the project objectives. By far, this is the most accepted definition of success (Paul, 2005). But there can be different definitions depending upon point-of-views. This essay examines the statement, suppose a project is delivered within its constraints, but is then not used as it was intended or does not deliver the expected benefits. Is that actually a successful project? In order to examine this statement, the essay compares and contrast three complex projects/programmes in terms of project failure and project success. The th ree cases that will be examined in this essay are FiReControl, 2011; Heathrow Terminal 5 Programme, 2008 and Libra Project (Courts), 2003. Normally, there are numerous constraints that impact the success or failure of a project. By definition, constraints are referred as limitations or problems that are leveraged to a project such as time, budget and resources. A project which gets completed under the impact of these constraints is only considered successful (Cattani, 2011). Constraints are also sometime act as project drivers that make project managers to handle a project in limited time, cost and resources. 1. Time: It is the timeframe allocated to complete the project and produce desired results. For instance, the time frame of the project can be 1 month or 1 year depending upon the urgency of the project.2. Cost: It is the budget allocated to complete the project. For instance, client sets a fixed cost for every project and managers are required to complete the project in that allocated budget.3. Resources: These are type, amount and availability of the work to be done. Resources can be limited or surplus depending upon the region where the project is going to take place and client who is allocating the project. Many times, a project is performed under above said constraints but doesnt produce desired results. Such projects are typically not successful. By definition, successful projects are often referred to as those projects that are able to accomplish project objectives under constraints. For a project to be successful, there are numerous factors required. These include Smart people, smart planning, Open communication, Careful Risk management and String project closure. Smart people are required to manage the project efficiently under any given constraints. Smart planning enables personnel to handle the project effectively. In order plan smartly, all stakeholders are required to be on board so that they know their role during the entire project (Lewis, 2006). Open communication enables that every stakeholder is informed about every decision and also can share his thoughts to make project completion more efficient. Risk management is crucial as there can be numerous situations when project s can go off-track. A strong project closure is crucial otherwise the project will continue consuming resources. As per above discussion, below are three cases: FiReControl, 2011 FiReControl was a government IT project which failed in spite of numerous efforts, using numerous resources without meeting any of its objectives. FiReControl was an ambitious project put forward by government in order to enhance national resilience, efficiency and technology. It aimed at doing so by replacing the functions of 46 local fire and rescue services in UK by nine control rooms powered by a national computer system. The project was rolled out in December 2004 but had to terminate in 2010 December due to series of failures (Phillips, 2003). Although initiated to accomplish wider objectives, the project was started too quickly. Government in England wanted a system at a place to help them deal with rising terror attacks, disasters and accidents. However, there were basic approval checks and balances. The results of the project were very unpractical. The project was a failure due to numerous reasons. Foremost, the department aimed at imposing a single and centralised approach on Fire and Rescue Services without engaging with independent locally accountable services. Also, the project didnt have the power to make these local bodies adopt latest regional structures. Secondly, the project was swiftly started i.e. the rapid pace of project led to the inefficiency and incomplete work. Hence, the project came out be highly over ambitious followed by highly unrealistic results. Thirdly, there was lack of proper project management (PMI, 2010). The department didnt have any relevant operational experience in the field so they had to depend on external consultants in order to manage the project. It led to poor project management. This was one of the reasons which made the project very expensive. It was estimated that about 76% of the total cost of the project was spent in hiring third party consultants. In spite of hiring professionals, department didnt use any monitoring and evaluating technique to analyse the performance of the project. In order to address these concerns, department should have won the confidence of local fire and rescue services. In future, department must take their approval who are expected to use this technology. Secondly, the department must follow business case approval. It ensures that proper challenge is applied to approval process. Thirdly, the department must clearly identify role and responsibilities so that any under-performing area can be assessed right away. Fourthly, department must ensure that resources are not wasted and they dont hire third party consultants in future. Instead it can be replaced by training the personnel in department with the technologies to be used in the project. This case highlights that factors such as poor project management, lack of operational experience, inappropriate resource allocation can be few reasons leading to failure of project (PMI, 2010). Heathrow Terminal 5 Programme, 2008 Heathrow Terminal 5 Programme was one the largest construction project which involved 60 contractors, 16 projects and 147 sub-projects. The Heathrow Terminal 5 Programme aimed at providing crucial new capacity to tenant airlines and also enhance overall revenue by significant amount. However, unnecessary delays impacted the opening of the project. It affected the overall quality on diverse areas such as market reduction in testing and staff orientation within premises. Besides delays, some other factors that led to the failure of project included loss of cost recovery options, angry tenants, failed contracts, negative political implications and public relation nightmare (Lock, 2007). Failure factors also included loss of confidence, technical failures, business interruption and negative publicity. In order to address these concerns, the project of Heathrow Terminal 5 Programme should be planned appropriately in future so that there are no delays in future. Secondly, all the technical things should be monitored and cross checked before final testing in future. This case provides with a lesson that unnecessary delays can usually result in failure of project. Hence, there should be a proper system put in place to monitor any delays. Libra Project (Courts), 2003. Libra Project (Courts), 2003 is a project based in UK which aims at designing a national system for 385 magistrates. This project aimed at improving the IT magistrate system in UK and enables them to share information electronically. But it was later declared that Libra Project (Courts), 2003 was one of the worst IT project in UK. The factors that led to failure of Libra Project (Courts), 2003 included lack of interest of bidders, lack of cost effectiveness model and outdated contingency plans. For future considerations, department must make share all bidders involve in the project who show interest and finally, take the assignment. Secondly, department must invest in developing cost effective model to assess the reasonableness of bid. Thirdly, departments should have latest contingency plan to take necessary steps when project goes out of track. To conclude, there can be numerous factors that lead to project success or project failure. All three projects listed here failed due to numerous reasons. References Chatfield, C. (2010).
